This Page is a copy of the 20 year program. I've removed all actual address
references because there are too many idiots on the Internet and no one should have
access to home addresses. That said, if you want to add a section or update an
earlier one, send a note to Terry Byrnes
and we'll be happy to put it on the list. Plus, if you have a website - business or personal -
send the address...after all, networking with old friends is an excellent way
to advertise your business.
What have you been doing since 1979?
Michael Bellofatto    I have been married for 19
years and have two kids, a son, 18 and a daughter, 13. I worked for seven years at the Pentagon
for the Defense Printing Service and GPI, a full engineering firm located in Laurel. We moved
to Florida in 1993 and I became co-owner of a full-fledged architectural firm. We do
commercial and residential projects. Our clients range from homeowners to local contractors
as well as nationally known companies such as Hibbett's Sports (located mostly in the South
and the West), Dunkin Donuts (we are the Central Florida Architects for them), Little
Caesar's and Dollar General. We also designed a new Fan Attic for the Orlando Magic. With
any luck we will continue to grow bigger and have even better projects. It's been a great 20
years for us and we can't wait for the next 20 (except the getting old part, the gray hair part
and having two teenagers). How my parents dealt with seven teenagers I will never know.
Gregory Benefiel    Playing, playing, playing. Working
just enough to keep on playing. Marriages, divorces, kids, golfing, and sailing.
Dale Best    Shortly after graduation, I enlisted in the
navy. I was stationed in San Diego from 1979 -- 1981. In 1985 I married Denise Lancon, a
graduate of DuVal High class of 1979. We have three children: Jack D. Best, 1991; Christina
M. Best, 1995 and Joseph M. Best, 1997. Currently working for Boland Trane in Rockville,
MD as an HVAC Service Engineer.
Brian Birsa    Currently in the midst of moving
from Crofton to Hampstead, MD, with a one-month layover at Mom & Dad's place in Laurel!
Other than that, I manage an I.T. Department for Sylvan Learning in Baltimore. My wife,
Kathy, and I keep busy raising two girls, Emily (3) and Kate (1«).
Cindy Blackaby Mast
Roxanne Bowen Manwaring    Live in
Middletown, MD. Married with two cocker spaniels - Joe and Betty Cocker. My husband and
I have owned Plantasia for 14 years. Would love to get more sleep.
Patrick Bulla    I've been working in the
printing industry for about 11 years. Before that, well, mostly tedious menial jobs that aren't
worth mentioning. I've been married six years and have one and a half children. My wife
Maria and I have a 3« year old daughter named Josie and our second child is due in January.
Terrence Byrnes    Having graduated from UM,
I've worked as a programmer and systems analyst with the University for 17 years, with the
ultimate goal of starting a web design company in Florida as soon as possible. I've also biked
through Ireland a couple of times.
Mike Caselli    Graduated from the University of
Maryland (Nuclear Engineering) in 1984. Moved to Columbia, SC to work for South Carolina
Electric and Gas. Relocated to Miami, FL in 1990. Currently working for Florida Power and

Gospel Church. Fulfilled my goals in the yearbook -- married Dan and opened my own day-
care.
Susan Corcoran Kiley    An early marriage
(MISTAKE!) had one good result, my son, Christopher. Surviving divorce and life as a single
parent taught me (finally!) that there is nothing I can't do if I put my mind to it. Over the last
12 years, I have risen from an entry-level administrative position to my current position as a
Commercial Property Manager. After managing office buildings in DC for eight years, I am
currently managing office and industrial properties in Baltimore, PG and Montgomery
Counties. I will soon celebrate my 11th anniversary with my second husband. We recently
moved into a new home that we had built about « mile from Scott's Cove where we are

I got my captain's license from the U.S. Coast Guard and started running boats. I ran boat
deliveries from the Boston area down to Florida. In 1991 I started working for a fishing/whale
watching company out of Plymouth, MA where I met my wife, Susan. We were married in
August of 1992 and have been happily married since. We don't have any children, but have a
dog and a cat to substitute for them (I didn't want any anyway). I recently changed careers and
now I am employed full-time as a desktop support specialist for a large computer support
company called Inacom. I miss Maryland and especially the friends I made over the years. I'm
looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Bernadette Dean Johnson    Just after our five-
year reunion I met the man of my dreams. We've been married for 13 years and have three
beautiful sons, Samuel (8), Thomas (6) and Peter (4). Being a stay-at-home Mom with a very
part-time job allows me to indulge in my loves; music, gardening, fitness, food, and, most
importantly, my husband and children. I work for a caterer and my husband is an Episcopal
Priest.

my husband of nine years, Michael, and my two beagles, Fred and Rex.
Bryan Engle (actually, it's Smith)    So, I
thought I wanted to be an actor. Instead, while attending the University of Maryland, I found
my real love: journalism. I started out at a small paper in the Shenandoah Valley in VA,
worked my way up to a bigger VA paper, and got recruited to work at The Oregonian in
Portland. OR. Now, I am a writer for the Chicago Sun-times. During my career, I've gone to
Amarillo, TX to write about Oprah vs. Cattlemen; I've gone to the Dominican Republic to
write about Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa; to Miami to write about Gianne Versace
murderer Andrew Cunanan; and Iowa to write about the McCaughey septuplets. Along the
way, I've been nominated twice by the Sun-Times for the Pulitzer Prize and have won state,
regional and national awards, including writing honors from the Virginia Press Association,
the Oregon Newspaper Association, the Illinois Press Association, the American Association
of Sunday and Feature Editors and others. In addition to being a staff writer for the paper, I'm
a regular contributor to Reader's Digest and my work has appeared in the book Chicken Soup
for the Couple's Soul. Two years ago I married a lovely and talented journalist, who
followed much the same career path as myself, starting out in theater (in Columbia'), then
moving on to journalism. She is the morning anchor for ABC in Chicago, the top-rated station
in its market (Well, one of us made it to TV at least.). By the way, many of you will better
remember me as Bryan Engle; but as it turns out, I never legally took the name of my
stepfather, so I'm Bryan Smith. My fondest memory is of goofing off in Jean Vandenbosch's
drama class, then watching her pull off a miracle show.
